Robust Decking offers a real alternative to treated wood and all the inherent problems associated with it. When used in outdoor applications, traditional treated wood requires costly maintenance and regular replacement because it is constantly being battered by the forces of nature. While chemically treated timber typically lasts 4-10 years, Robust Decking stands up to the forces of nature with a warranted life of 25 years. You may never need to change it but if you do – we’ll purchase it back!
Remember over 90% of the material used in its construction is recycled material. It does not contain any harmful chemicals which might leach out into the environment. It does not need treating every other year with more chemically based solutions, saving money, time and the environment. At the end of its life it can be recycled to be used in making even more environmentally friendly products.
It can be worked just like wood using either hand tools or normal woodworking machinery. By using our Robust Fast Fit Decking Clips (patent pending) system it is even easier to fit. All fittings are hidden out of harms way; there are no nails or screw heads to work loose and cause injury.
Robust Decking will not split, splinter, rot, warp and is impervious to insect attack. It’s not so likely to be covered in lichen which attaches itself to timber making the surface slippery and dangerous. All it takes is a quick hose down and brush each year to keep it in first class condition.
At the present time it is more expensive to purchase when compared to softwood decking but when you look at the equation over its life time there is no comparison Robust Decking wins. It will not have to be replaced every 4 – 10 years and it will not need treating every 2 years thus saving money and time.
Remember; with wooden decking you only ever treat the visible surface and not the underside where rot can go unnoticed.
It is comparable with hardwood timber in both appearance and durability with the added major advantage of never having to be treated and having the advantage of saving the rainforest from further deforestation and the environmental knock on this has. Remember our product is made from recycled packaging material.
Robust Decking is supplied in 6 standard colours – see colour chart – but can be manufactured in any colour at an additional cost to fit in with your requirements. With the wood grain finish it even looks like wood and is colour fast throughout its profile. So if you scratch the surface you will not expose a different colour core unlike other products on the market. Untreated softwood decking after 5 years, rotting from underneath.
It can be either laid on your existing support structure, on our I-Beams or even laid on our Low Profile Batten’s which hold the deck in place and is just laid on the ground like a raft. An ideal way to cover an existing concrete or paved patio - without raising the deck above your damp proof course!
In addition to the decking we can also supply Handrails and Spindles to add those finishing touches and enhance your deck. They are of course made from the same material as our decking with the same inherent advantages. An ideal extra when enclosing a swimming pool or hot tub not only for safety but for longevity as the deck and surround are unaffected by water.
